August 2,2024 WHITTAKER FORD “F50” CANCELLED DUE TO FORECASTED INCLEMENT WEATHER

News Story: Race of Champions Modified Series

After continuing to review the current forecast and the upcoming schedules for the remainder of the 2024 season, Race of Champions Series management has made the difficult decision to cancel the Whittaker Ford “F50” scheduled for Friday, August 2, 2024 in Williamson, NY, at Spencer Speedway.

“The forecast created several challenges with teams that are traveling a great distance and the potential in putting fans and participants at risk,” stated Joe Skotnicki, Race of Champions. “There are so many things that we have to consider when making these decisions. This includes the potential of lightning and obviously, precipitation. as well as scheduling in regard to the fact that if we did start and encounter weather, where would we potentially finish the race? We just do not have that option at this time of the year. Therefore based on the inclement weather forecast, we are forced to cancel. It’s a difficult and challenging decision each time. Of course, there will be someone who doesn’t agree with our reasoning, however, our primary focus is to keep everyone safe and prevent the teams from using resources when we know the outcome of the entire day may not be favorable.”

Any advance tickets that were purchased for the Whittaker Ford “F50” may be used for the Maynard Troyer Classic “V” on Friday, August 30, 2024 at Spencer Speedway.

This event will not be rescheduled.

The Race of Champions “Family of Series” will return to Spencer Speedway for a “features only night” as part of the “Apple Harvest Event” on Friday, August 16, 2024.

The next event for the Race of Champions “Family of Series” is Saturday, August 10 at Chemung (NY) Speedrome and the annual running of the Rod Spalding Classic for the Race of Champions Modified Series. The Race of Champions Late Model and Race of Champions FOAR SCORE Four Cylinder Dash Series will join the card.
